Difference between a Dietitian and a Nutritionist?

Dietitians are experts in food and nutrition. They translate scientific nutrition information into personalised, practical advice. A dietitian undergoes at least 4 years of University training, and then has to maintain a minimum amount of ongoing education each year to remain accredited. Both a Dietitian and Nutritionist have an in depth knowledge and understanding about food but a Dietitian has to undergo additional training in order to understand the role of food and nutrition in relation to health and disease.

Can I get any money back from my Private Health or Medicare?

Rebates are available through your Private Health Insurance fund, however you will need to check with your specific fund in regards to eligibility and how much you would be reimbursed which is dependant on your level of cover. If you are under a Team Care Arrangement that is prescribed by your GP, Medicare will provide you with a rebate of $52.95 per consultation. To check if you are eligible for this arrangement, please see your local doctor. Nikki is also a DVA Provider.

Reading Nutrition Labels

Nutrition labels are confusing to say the least. With tricky wording and marketing techniques, consumers are easily misled into thinking that their unhealthy purchases are in fact good for them. On top of that, there are a whole lot of numbers to try to make sense of as well. However, once you learn to read and ‘de-code’ all of the numbers and marketing claims, food labels can be very useful in making healthy food choices. To become a label-reading whizz, call and book an appointment at Eating 4 Health, we would be delighted to assist you.
